The Hollies

This is my friend Holly. She moved to Australia. I love her. She has Pica. It's a disorder where you want to nibble rocks or dirt. She also loves chocolate. For her going away gift I made some chocolate drizzled slate pieces for her. She nibbles slate when she's stressed. She ate this entire box of chocolates in her first week in Australia. Hahahahaha. I love that Holzy.

This is what Jeff and I gave the kids for Christmas. She's a teddy bear hamster, and the boys named her Holly because of the holiday. They all love playing with her, and watching her climb the sides of her cage, and laughing when she falls. Gabey calls her Wah-wah and insists on telling her goodnight before he goes to bed. She's been a cute addition to our household.

What a cute little guy! I am sure the boys love it! I had no idea that was what she had does she actually eat the whole rocks? I know probably a weird question, but just curious!

Marissa- to answer your question: Holly actually has a nearly comical amount of things medically wrong with her- Pica being a tiny insignificant thing in comparison. As far as how she eats it, she just nibbles the edge and little granuals come off at a time. I imagine it takes quite a bit of time to get through just one little peice. It's supposed to have something to do with insufficient iron or something- it's the same reason pregnant women will sometimes want to nibble dirt.

I don't know if I will ever be willing to allow animals in my house. I will forever have the smell of guinea pigs engrained in my nose because of a friends room from my growing up years. I'm sure that you keep this little guy's cage much cleaner and it is a nice addition.

Oh, and I LOVE the gift you gave to your friend. Very clever!
