Bear's 5th birthday

Bear Bear has been begging me for months for a lion costume for his birthday. So I bought two colors of fleece (since it doesn't need hemming) and a brown hoodie and went to my mom's to make something. I sat at the sewing machine while my Mom cut the strips for the mane, and cut the ears and tail. I also figured that it's no fun to be a lion all alone, so I made a second costume out of a long sleeved t-shirt and made an extra mane.
He likes to be ferocious, but he also like to pretend to be the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz. He thought the baby in the costume was funny, but even funnier was when he pulled it off and the mane became a beard. (click the photos to see them better)
He wanted a Spongebob cake, so my Mother-in-law donated an unused wedding cake (Yay! I didn't even have to bake!), and Uncle Nate printed up some pictures from the computer for me to copy. I learned how to do cake decorating from my talented Mother, however, "frosting drawing" is all I'm able to do. I'm grateful for that much because as a mom, it comes in handy. (Like the sewing and hair cutting she taught me- Thanks MOM!).

Happy Birthday Bear Bear! Now, please, stop growing up...

Your talents NEVER cease to amaze me. Your costume and cake making skills are second to none- and you are THE BEST mother I know. Your boys are so lucky!

LOVE that you shared these!

What a cute costume! It is great! Love the cake too. It is amazing. You are so very talented in SO many ways!
The girls always love seeing your pictures. We expecially like the new photo of you with the cracker in your mouth. Very funny...but you still look beautiful. How'd you pull that off? Not too many people can take a crazy pictures & still look great at the same time.

I just went & looked at it again. Your cute curly hair, perfect coloring of skin & your dimples showing make it beautiful.

Okay you are all way too nice. I meant this to be a post about Bear's bday, not a "look what I can do" post. Having said that, my heart is so full and I'm a little embarrassed about all the kind things you've said! Thank you so much for being to sweet to me everyone. MWAH!

You made that cake?!? You're sick. That's amazing! I'm going to have to learn to like Sponge Bob if I'm ever going to have kids, cause right now he drives me a little bonkers. I still can't believe your kids are as old as they are. Man time flies!

I LOVE YOUR BLOG SO MUCH! I love the lion's costume and the AMAZING cake! You are just so dang cool. For reals.

I also think it's fun that Melinda was at the park with you. Melinda and I are very close. We haven't hung out much since she had their little girl and moved, but we are still very good friends. Next time you see her, tell her I say hi.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I'm reading your blog and I look forward to your new posts and pictures...and I'm jealous that you were recently in Disneyland (truly the greatest place on earth!)...AND I love the picture of you with the cracker in your mouth...once again, you are SO MUCH FUN!

I think Sponge Bob has done more for the intellectual advancement of todays youth than any other single crude cartoon in TV history.

What a fun, fun, birthday for Bear. I think that some of my kids' best memories are the things I made for them. Thank goodness they always seemed to like what I did. Did you know that Sheryl's request for her 12th birthday was a clown costume?
